Box Score (ASHLAND, Va.) – A 10-game home stand continues as Randolph-Macon softball hosts Ferrum in a battle between two of the hottest teams in the ODAC on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets jumped up to No. 6 in this week's national rankings, while the Panthers are on a four-game win streak to start league play which includes a sweep over then-No. 3 and defending national champion Virginia Wesleyan.

Three years ago these two teams split with former ace Candace Whittemore having one of her best games. The YJ win came from another one of her dominant performances in which she struck out 13 for her 13th win of the season. At the plate she went 2-for-3 with an RBI to help her own cause.

A pair of nail-biters took place on Wednesday as the Yellow Jackets took the opener in extras before falling late in the second to the Mustangs. Rilee Baughan (Jr., Warsaw, Va. / Rappahannock) went the distance in the opener and didn't allow an earned run through nine while striking out nine. A Sierra Livingston (So., Dagsboro, Del. / Sussex Tech) sac fly scored Olivia Owens (So., Salisbury, Md. / James M. Bennett) to tie the game in the eighth before Baughan helped her own cause with a single to score Amanda Lanyon (Fr., Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian).

The Panthers remained unbeaten in ODAC play with a sweep over the Hornets. Maggie McCray led Ferrum in game two with 10 strikeouts. Three runs on three separate hits in the third helped put them up 4-1 and provide enough run support for the win.

- The Yellow Jackets have been one of the best teams nationally in finding ways to score. They are No. 13 in total runs with 159 scored this season. They are third in sacrifice flies with 12 and ninth in sac bunts.
- Baughan and Sami Davidson (Sr., Stafford, Va. / Brooke Point) are both tied for eighth nationally with three sac flies each. Both are tied for first in the ODAC.
