Inside The Numbers
- Gracie Ellis (Fr., New Kent, Va. / New Kent) has been impressive thus far in her rookie season to say the least. She currently has 92 strikeouts, the sixth-most in the nation, and 11.0 strikeouts per seven innings, No. 13 nationally. Both rank first in the ODAC.
- Ellis' nine wins rank ninth in the nation and No. 1 in the ODAC. Her three shutouts are No. 11 nationally.
- The team's WHIP stands at an even 1.00, No 13 nationally and No. 1 in the ODAC. Ellis' mark of 0.84 leads the ODAC and is No. 30 nationally.
- The Jackets dig the long ball and have four players with multiple round trips this season. Kayla Davis (Fr., Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) leads the group with four, No. 24 nationally and No. 2 in the ODAC. Rilee Baughan (Jr., Warsaw, Va. / Rappahannock) has three, while Amanda Lanyon (Fr., Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) and Naomi Sadler (Fr., Emporia, Va. / Brunswick) both have two.
- As a team, the Lemon and Black have 13 home runs, No. 15 in the nation. Their 0.87 home runs per game is the eighth highest mark in the country.
ODAC Opening Days
- Saturday will serve as the ODAC opener for the Yellow Jackets. Over the last five years with ODAC play, the Lemon and Black are 7-3 in opening day games with one of those losses coming against a top-ranked Virginia Wesleyan squad.
History vs. Roanoke, Randolph
- While the Maroons hold the series lead against the Jackets, R-MC has seen most of the success as of late as the Jackets have won the last nine games with Roanoke.
- The series with the WildCats has largely favored the Yellow Jackets who have won the last five games with Randolph.
Top 25
- The Yellow Jackets have been in the national rankings 22 of the last 24 weeks. The two aforementioned weeks they weren't ranked were the final poll of 2021 and the preseason poll this year. After starting the year unranked, R-MC has quickly risen up the poll and is knocking on the door of the top 10.
