Athletes of the Week
- Last week's season opener with Mary Washington was a great start in particular for Rilee Baughan (Jr., Warsaw, Va. / Rappahannock) and Gracie Ellis (Fr., New Kent, Va. / New Kent). Baughan was named the ODAC Player of the Week and Ellis was ODAC Pitcher of the Week.
- Baughan earned her honors with a pair of home runs to lead the offense and pitched the team to a win in the second game.
- Ellis had an incredible collegiate debut as she struck out 10 and recorded a shutout of the Eagles for her first win.
Inside The Numbers
- Home runs were plentiful for the Yellow Jackets last Saturday as they hit four over the course of the day. In addition to Baughan's pair of round trips, Kayla Davis (Fr., Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) and Naomi Sadler (Fr., Emporia, Va. / Brunswick). For Sadler, her home run came in her first collegiate at-bat.
- Five different players had two hits last Saturday, and 15 total Yellow Jackets reached first at least once during the day.
- Ellis' 10 strikeouts are the second-most in a single game out of anyone in the ODAC so far this season, and the most in a game that didn't go into extra innings.
- Baughan was one of two players in the ODAC to hit multiple home runs so far this season.
- Baughan's .667 batting average is currently second in the ODAC.
