ASHLAND, Va. -- The Randolph-Macon men's swimming team hosted the Catholic University Cardinals on Saturday. The Cardinals came out on top 170-91.
Alex Richardson (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach) continued his season success, winning two events on the day. Richardson took first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:01.48, as well as first in the 100 fly, finishing almost three seconds better than second place with a 54.94. He capped off his day individually with a second-place finish in the 400 IM in 4:26.33.
Jacob Wills (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) grabbed a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke, with a time of 2:05.78, winning in a photo finish. Wills also took third in the 100 backstroke, finishing just 1.5 seconds behind the leader, coming in with a 55.93.
Sebastian Florez (Richmond, Va./JR Tucker) finished the 1000 free in 10:57.91 to come in second in the event. He also finished third in the 500 free, with a time of 5:16.43.
Carter Bingman (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) secured a second-place finish in the 200 free, with a 1:56.97 to get four points for R-MC. Bingman also finished one spot behind Florez in the 500 free with a time of 5:18.26 to grab fourth.
Ben Pastva (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) was narrowly beat out in the 50 free, grabbing second by .01 seconds. He finished the event in 22.15.
The Men's team began their day with a second-place relay finish in the 200-medley relay. The group of Wills, Ryan Deavers (Broadway, Va./Broadway), Evan Fannin (Hayes, Va./Christchurch), and Pastva finished in 2:07.64.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 11 for an ODAC matchup with Hampden-Sydney at 6:00 p.m.
