Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Miles Mallory (Beltsville, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) had 13 points and eight rebounds as the top-ranked Randolph-Macon men's basketball team defeated Hampden-Sydney 61-59 in a non-conference contest on Saturday evening.

How it Happened:
- Mallory and junior Daniel Mbangue (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) both had four points as the Yellow Jackets started the game on a 14-0 run that was capped by three-pointers from junior Will Coble (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day) and freshman Keishawn Pulley Jr. (Louisa, Va./St. Christopher's) in the first five minutes of the contest. The Tigers trailed 22-12 before triples by freshman Kyle Keener (Canton, Ga./Sequoyah) and sophomore Vincent Payne (Frederick, Md./St. Maria Goretti) gave R-MC a 28-12 lead with 5:45 left in the first half. H-SC would score 10 straight before a jumper by senior Josh Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) made it 30-22 with 2:30 remaining. A jumper by Mallory pushed the lead back to 10 before the Tigers tallied the final bucket of the half as R-MC led 32-24 at the break. Mallory, Mbangue and freshman Jabril Robinson (Derwood, Md./South Kent Prep) each had six points.
- Mbangue scored in the lane and Robinson buried a trey as the Yellow Jackets started the second half with a 5-2 spurt to take a 37-26 lead with 18:30 remaining. The Tigers scored the next 10 points before a three-pointer by Robinson ended the run and put the home team up 40-36 with 12:40 left. H-SC pulled within two before Payne hit a triple and fed junior Lance Johnson (South Riding, Va./Freedom) with a beautiful long bounce pass to make up a 5-1 run as R-MC led 45-39 with 11:45 remaining. The Tigers pulled within three before a baseline jumper by Coble and a free throw by Mallory made it 52-46 with 6:15 left. A three-pointer by Coble extended the lead to nine at 55-46 with 4:30 remaining. H-SC scored six straight before a layup by Mbangue gave the Yellow Jackets a 57-52 lead with 56 seconds left. A three-pointer by the Tigers made it a two-point game before two free throws by Mallory pushed the advantage to four at 59-55 with 21 seconds remaining. H-SC hit two foul shots before Talbert threw a long pass to Mallory for a layup and a 61-57 lead with 15 seconds left. The Tigers scored with one second left to make the final 61-59.
