Women's Soccer Closes Season in ODAC Quarters

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Randolph Macon women's soccer team fell short on the road Tuesday afternoon, falling 2-0 to Lynchburg in the Quarterfinals of the 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament. It was the second time in as many fixtures that Randolph-Macon saw the Hornets at Shellenberger Field.

How it Happened:

  • Randolph-Macon found two shots in the first stanza, but was unable to gain the advantage at the midway break. Zoe Long (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) was called on multiple times in the half, seeing seven shots and recording three saves.
  • Lynchburg found the first goal of the game as McKenna Dahm took a Emily Santana ball and found the back of the net from distance to give the Hornets the advantage in the 39th minute.
  • The Yellow Jackets were left to find an equalizer while Lynchburg looked to double the advantage after the midway break. It was Dahm and the Hornets that struck again, as Dahm found her second goal of the contest in the 71st minute.
  • Lynchburg found a final insurance goal in the 79th minute to put it away of off Santana's second assist of the contest.

By The Numbers:

  • Long finished the contest with five saves for Randolph-Macon, seeing just under 58 minutes as the Yellow Jacket netminder. 
  • Ariel Farmer (Chesterfield, Va./Clover Hill) and Sammie Hoefs (New Market, Md./Linganore) led the way for Randolph-Macon in terms of chances, as they each found a shot on goal.
  • Lynchburg recorded 18 shots across the 90 minutes, nine of those coming on frame.

  • Randolph-Macon will close the 2022-23 chapter after the loss this afternoon, seeing their season end in the ODAC Quarterfinals. The Yellow Jackets look to return eight starters in a young core that found much success throughout the course of the campaign.
