Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – After battling without a goal for more than 89 minutes, sixth-ranked Christopher Newport netted a goal with 43 seconds left to nip the Randolph-Macon women's soccer team 1-0 on Monday evening.

How it Happened:
- CNU had the first eight shots of the match, including four on goal and two that hit the crossbar. Sophomore Olivia Owens (Salisbury, Md./James M. Bennett), the ODAC Player of the Week, and senior Maddie Bauman (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) both had shots in the 21st minute for the Yellow Jackets. Junior Leah Conrad (Bristow, Va./Saint John Paul the Great) and Owens both registered shots for R-MC in the 26th minute. Neither team found the back of the net in the first half as the match was scoreless at intermission. CNU had an 11-4 advantage in shots, including 6-1 for shots on goal. Sophomore Abby Cook (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) had six saves for the Yellow Jackets.
- The Captains dominated play in the first 15 minutes of the second half, with two corners, six shots and three shots on goal. But the match remained scoreless. Conrad had a shot on goal in the 76th minute for the Yellow Jackets, trying to snap the scoreless tie. CNU finally broke through with 43 seconds remaining to give the visitors a 1-0 victory.

- CNU had a 25-6 advantage on shots. Conrad had three shots and Owens finished with two.
- The Yellow Jackets had 10 total saves. Cook had six in the first half, while sophomore Zoe Long (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) had four in the second half.

- The Yellow Jackets have faced a pair of Top 6 teams and been edged 1-0 in each. R-MC fell 1-0 at No. 6 Johns Hopkins to begin the season before the 1-0 defeat to No. 6 CNU.
