How It Happened (Match 1 vs. Ithaca)
- The day started off well for the Yellow Jackets with a dominating first set. After the Bombers took the first point, RMC reeled off the next seven with Madison Warlick (Sr., Charlottesville, Va. / Albermarle) serving three aces. The Jackets closed the set by taking 10 of the last 14 points.
- The second set saw more back-and-forth action. Down 17-15, the Jackets rallied for nine of the next 11 points, including the last six of that rally, to play for potential game point. The Bombers didn't go away quietly and scored the next four, but a Grace Parker (Jr., Andover, N.J. / Pope John XXIII) kill gave RMC a 2-0 let.
- The third set started out in similar fashion with both teams tied 9-9 before Ithaca took control for good with a 7-0 run en route to the 25-16 win. The Bombers kept the momentum rolling into the fourth and fifth sets with deciding wins.
Inside The Numbers (Match 1 vs. Ithaca)
- Parker led the Jackets with 10 kills. She was a dig away from a double-double. Sydney Koch (Sr., Raleigh, N.C. / Sanderson) added nine kills.
- Defensively Koch joined Danielle LaRosa (Sr., Charlottesville, Va. / Albermarle) and Gracyn Draney (Jr., Forest, Va. / Jefferson Forest) with three blocks each.
- On the receiving end Macguire Gubba (Sr., Grove City, Pa. / Grove City) led the team with 18 digs. Leslie Currie (So., Mechanicsville, Va. / Hanover) and Warlick added 15 and 14, respectively.
- Gubba set up the attack with 29 assists.
How It Happened (Match 2 vs. York)
- A back-and-forth first set saw Randolph-Macon lead as late as 16-14 before York rallied to score seven of the next nine points. From there each team exchanged points until the Spartans came away with the narrow 25-23 win to go up 1-0.
- The second set had a similar feel with teams exchanging small rallies. Again RMC led at 16-15 before York took control at the end.
- A slow start hurt the Jackets in the third as the Spartans jumped out to a big lead and carried the momentum to their biggest set win of the match.
Inside The Numbers (Match 2 vs. York)
- The defense had strong numbers blocking up front again with Koch leading the way with four. LaRosa added three.
