ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Katie Gray (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) and sophomore Catherine Magill (Moseley, Va./Trinity) both scored goals as the Randolph-Macon field hockey team suffered a 5-2 ODAC loss to Shenandoah on Tuesday evening.

The Basics:

How it Happened:

• The Hornets had a 4-0 advantage on shots in the first quarter and junior Gatlin Snyder (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) made three saves to keep the game scoreless after one period.
• SU would break through in the 19th minute to grab a 1-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets would respond in the 24th minute as Magill finished on a pass from sophomore Summer Kujawa (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) to tie the game at 1-1. The Hornets had a 15-8 advantage in shots in the first half.
• Gray scored in the 33rd minute on a ball of the stick of senior Maria-Teresa Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity) as R-MC took a 2-1 advantage. The Hornets answered with three goals over a six-minute stretch to hold a 4-2 edge after three periods.
• SU added a goal early in the fourth period and recorded the 5-2 victory.

By The Numbers:

• R-MC finished with nine shots. Gray had three shots, the only Yellow Jacket with multiple shots.
• Snyder finished with 13 saves.
• SU had a 7-3 edge in penalty corners.
