Box Score (ASHLAND, Va.) – The Randolph-Macon women's soccer team battled Ferrum to a scoreless draw on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The game was largely dominated by the Yellow Jackets everywhere but the final score, but all offensive opportunities were staved off by a stout Panther defense.
The Basics:
Score: Randolph-Macon 0, Ferrum 0 (2ot)
Venue: Nunnally Field
Records: R-MC – 0-2-1, 0-1-1 ODAC; Ferrum 1-1-2, 1-1-1
How It Happened:
- The Jackets peppered the Panthers with shots throughout the game with the majority of the chances taken landing on target. Ferrum keeper Abbey Hayes was able to stop everything put her way, however, to preserve the clean sheet.
- Nicole Czyzewski (Jr., Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) and Charlotte Bradshaw (Fr., Boydton, Va. / Bluestone) led the team with five shots on goal each. Lauren Donovan (Fr., Glen Allen, Va. / Glen Allen) added four herself.
- Because of the offense, the defense didn't have too many threats. Ferrum was only able to get off four shots on the day with none of them on target.
- Abby Cook (Fr., Glen Allen, Va. / Glen Allen) got the start in while Zoe Long (Fr., Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) started the second half and both overtime periods.
Inside The Numbers
- The Yellow Jackets outshot the Panthers 33-4 in the contest. Of those, 21 were on goal.
- The Panthers had only two shots in each half and were held without a shot in both overtimes. The visitors did place the ball deep in the R-MC box during one of the overtime periods, but the Jackets were able to clear it out before a shot could be taken.
- It's the first scoreless draw for the Yellow Jackets since the 2019 ODAC championship. The Jackets were able to take the championship after penalty kicks which are incorporated during postseason play.
