Box Score SALEM, Va. – Junior Josh Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) had season highs with 16 points and five steals as the third-ranked Randolph-Macon men's basketball team used a 19-3 run to start the second half in a 62-50 ODAC victory at No. 9 Roanoke on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened:
- Senior David Funderburg (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) had a layup to cap an 8-2 start for the Yellow Jackets three minutes into the contest. The Maroons eventually tied it at 10-10 before a layup by Talbert put R-MC up 12-10 six minutes in. RC used an 8-2 spurt to take an 18-14 edge with nine minutes remaining in the first half. A pair of three-pointers by senior Buzz Anthony (Arnold, Md./Archbishop Spalding) gave the visitors a 20-18 advantage with 5:25 left. After the Maroons leveled the score at 20-20, sophomore Will Coble (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day) nailed a trey to put R-MC ahead for good and sophomore Daniel Mbangue (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) made two free throws to give the Yellow Jackets a 25-20 lead with 3:15 remaining. RC outscored R-MC 5-2 the rest of the way as the Yellow Jackets led 27-25 at halftime. Anthony had nine points in the first half to lead R-MC.
- A layup by Funderburg capped a 19-3 run to start the second half as the Yellow Jackets took a 46-28 lead with 13:15 left. R-MC maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way. The Maroons closed to within a dozen before a layup by Anthony gave the Yellow Jackets a 56-42 advantage with 5:50 remaining. After a bucket by RC, Funderburg scored twice to make it 60-44 with two minutes left. The Maroons cut it to 10 before a dunk by Talbert with 25 seconds left completed the scoring as R-MC registered the 62-50 victory.
By The Numbers:
- The Yellow Jackets had three players score in double figures. Talbert scored 16, Anthony added 14 and Funderburg put in 12.
- The R-MC defense held Roanoke to a season-low 50 points. The previous low for the Maroons was 60. It was also the lowest point total for an R-MC opponent this season.
- The Yellow Jackets had a 44-14 advantage on points in the paint. R-MC held an 11-0 edge on second-chance points.
- R-MC had a 33-23 edge on the glass. Mbangue topped the team with seven, while junior Miles Mallory (Beltsville, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) snared six.
- Anthony led the Yellow Jackets with three assists.
- The Yellow Jackets had a season-high 12 steals. Talbert had five and Anthony added three.

- R-MC defeated its fourth nationally-ranked team in its past six games.
- Mallory had one block to give him 119 for his career, the fifth-highest total in program history.
- Anthony had three steals to give him 202 for his career, the top total in program history.
- Anthony has 1,604 career points, making him just the fifth player in program history to surpass 1,600 career points.
- Anthony has 622 career assists, passing Rod Wood for second place on the program's all-time list.
