Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Josh Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) registered a career-high 26 points, and senior David Funderburg (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, as the second-ranked Randolph-Macon men's basketball team recorded a 77-57 victory over Gettysburg on Wednesday afternoon on Day 1 of the R-MC Coaches Tournament sponsored by Fink's Jewelers.

How it Happened:
- Talbert had the first two buckets of the game, and a three-pointer by senior DaQuan Morris (Philadelphia, Pa./Hill School) put the Yellow Jackets up 7-2 less than two minutes into the contest. Talbert and sophomore Lance Johnson (South Riding, Va./Freedom) nailed three-pointers as R-MC went up 13-4 with 12:30 left in the first half. The Bullets used a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to take their first lead at 14-13. GC was up 17-15 before another triple by Johnson capped a 13-5 spurt as the Yellow Jackets led 28-22 with four minutes remaining. A trey by sophomore Will Coble (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day) gave R-MC a 32-26 edge before the Bullets tallied the final two buckets of the half and trailed 32-30 at the break. Talbert paced the home team with 12 points.
- Gettysburg used a 5-2 start to take a 35-34 lead two minutes into the second half. A follow by Funderburg put the Yellow Jackets ahead to stay. A free throw by Funderburg to complete the three-point play sparked a 7-0 run as R-MC led 41-35 with 16:45 left. The Bullets pulled within two at 45-43 before Funderburg and Talbert both had a pair of layups as the Yellow Jackets went up 53-43 with 9:20 remaining. A three-pointer by junior Loginn Norton (Chesterfield, Va./James River) pushed the lead to 16 at 66-50 with 4:45 left. GC trailed 70-57 with 2:15 remaining before Norton had a three-pointer with the shot clock running down, and Talbert had a pair of fast-break layups following turnovers to make the final 77-57.
By The Numbers:
- The Yellow Jackets had three players score in double figures. Talbert had 26, junior Miles Mallory (Beltsville, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) added 13 and Funderburg scored 11.
- The R-MC defense held Gettysburg to its second-lowest point total of the season. The Yellow Jackets have held each of their past three opponents to 57 points or less.
- The Yellow Jackets forced 22 turnovers, a season high, and had a season-best 18 steals. R-MC had a 30-9 advantage on points from turnovers. Talbert had a season-high six steals and Mallory had a career-best five.
- R-MC had a 31-29 edge on the glass, including 18-11 in the second half. Funderburg had 10 caroms and Mallory snagged seven.
- Talbert matched his career high with seven assists.
- Mallory matched his season best with five blocks.

- R-MC is 5-0 all-time against Gettysburg.
- The Yellow Jackets extended their home winning streak to 36 games, the longest current streak in Division III.
- Mallory had five blocks to give him 124 for his career, moving past Jared Mills into third place in program history.
- Johnson matched career bests with 18 minutes and six points.
- Morris played a career-high 27 minutes and matched his career bests with five points and five rebounds.
