Series vs. Hampden-Sydney
This is the 126th meeting between R-MC & H-SC. Randolph-Macon is 54-60-11 all-time against H-SC in a series that dates back to 1893. The Yellow Jackets have won seven straight and nine of the past 10 contests against the Tigers. This past spring, R-MC registered a 28-0 shutout victory at H-SC. In 2019, R-MC posted a 45-3 victory over H-SC in Ashland. Tre Frederick rushed for 143 yards and Burke Estes threw for 218 yards and two TDs. In 2018 at H-SC, R-MC built a 48-14 lead early in the fourth quarter and recorded a 48-35 victory to win the ODAC Championship. Jordan Hall rushed for 99 yards and four touchdowns. Burke Estes completed 15 of 20 passes for 231 yards and two scores. Eric Hoy had eight catches for 115 yards. In 2017, Hoy had 170 all-purpose yards and scored five rushing touchdowns in a 56-28 R-MC win. It marked the first time the Yellow Jackets scored 50 points against the Tigers. R-MC is 25-18-1 in ODAC contests with H-SC going back to 1976. The Yellow Jackets won the first encounter with the Tigers, 12-6 in 1892.

Beat the Clock
R-MC is first in the nation in time of possession at 35:20. The Yellow Jackets have had the advantage in time of possession in eight of nine games. R-MC had the ball for a season-high 44:12 against Shenandoah. R-MC held the ball for 40:05 at Dickinson and 40:05 at Ferrum.
Last Meeting
Presley Egbers passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more as R-MC blanked H-SC 28-0.
How it Happened:
- The Yellow Jacket defense forced a punt on the first possession by the Tigers. R-MC drove to the HSC 23 but was stopped on fourth-and-one. A second Tiger punt gave the Yellow Jackets the ball on their own 42. Egbers need nine plays to put R-MC in the end zone, hitting Ricky Mayfield on a six-yard scoring toss as R-MC led 7-0 after one.
- R-MC would start its next drive on its own 2-yard line. On the first play from scrimmage, Egbers hit David Wallis with a pass out to the RMC 41. The Yellow Jackets would use eight plays to go the 98 yards, 80 of it through the air, as Egbers found the end zone from one yard out to give the visitors a 14-0 lead with 9:43 left in the second period.
- An interception gave R-MC the ball on the HSC 29. Egbers capped the five-play scoring drive with a three-yard TD run as the Yellow Jackets went up 21-0 with 2:38 left until halftime. That would be the score at intermission.
- Egbers would hit Wallis with a 19-yard scoring strike midway through the fourth quarter, making the final 28-0.
By The Numbers:
- The R-MC defense held the Tigers to 97 yards of total offense and seven first downs. The Yellow Jackets had the ball for 37:38, compared to 22:22 for H-SC.
- Tyler DeBerry led the Yellow Jackets with 10 tackles. He had two tackles for loss and one interception. Matt Vergara had five tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one quarterback sack. Jacob Hutchinson had five tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two quarterback sacks.
- The Yellow Jackets had 349 yards of total offense, 137 on the ground and 212 through the air.
- Egbers completed 16 of 20 passes for 212 yards and two scores. Wallis was his favorite target, catching seven passes for 105 yards and one TD.
Last Time Out
R-MC collected 473 yards of total offense, with 384 on the ground, and the Yellow Jacket defense held Shenandoah to 38 rushing yards in a 45-14 ODAC victory.
How it Happened:
- The Yellow Jackets took the opening kickoff and drove 61 yards in nine plays, as Justin DeLeon scored on a three-yard run as R-MC took a 7-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest.
- R-MC held SU to a three-and-out, but a muffed punt gave the Hornets the ball on the RMC 29. A TD pass on the next play tied it at 7-7.
- The Yellow Jackets took the ensuing kickoff and moved 70 yards in 10 plays, with DeLeon reaching the end zone from one yard out as R-MC went up 14-7 with 3:26 left in the first period.
- Chris Vidal hit a 31-yard field goal with 6:21 left in the second quarter as the lead grew to 17-7.
- Nick Hale broke tackles for a 37-yard TD run late in the second period as the Yellow Jackets led 24-7 at halftime.
- DeLeon delivered his third touchdown of the game late in the third quarter to give R-MC a 31-7 advantage.
- Presley Egbers scored from seven yards out five minutes into the final period to give the home team a 38-7 lead.
- Following an interception by Ricky Thompson, the Yellow Jackets moved 65 yards in 10 plays, with Aaron Acevedo reaching the end zone from one yard out as R-MC went up 45-7.
- The Hornets had the game's final TD with 19 seconds left to make the final score 45-14.
By The Numbers
- R-MC had 68 rushes for 384 yards. DeLeon had 21 carries for 111 yards and three TDs. Egbers rushed 11 times for 71 yards and one score. Kwesi Clark ran 11 times for 68 yards. Acevedo carried 10 times for 64 yards and one TD. Hale had 10 carries for 59 yards and one score.
- The Yellow Jackets held the ball for a season-high 44:12.
- R-MC did not punt in the contest.
Head Coach Pedro Arruza
Pedro Arruza is in his 18th season as head coach at Randolph-Macon. He has compiled an overall record of 112-67 (.626) and now owns the top spot on R-MC's career list with those 112 victories. Ted Keller previously headed the list with 105 wins in 18 seasons (1964-81). Over the past 12 seasons, R-MC is 85-33 (.720) under Arruza. The Yellow Jackets have won 23 of their past 25 games, a win percentage of 92%. Arruza has been named ODAC Coach of the Year four times (2008, 2016, 2018, 2020).
Best in ODAC
Over the past six seasons, R-MC is 47-11 overall (.810) and 32-6 in ODAC play (.842). Both marks are the best in the conference. Over the past 15 seasons, the Yellow Jackets are 105-44 overall (.705) and 68-28 in league play (.708). Both records also lead the ODAC.
Net Punting
R-MC is first in the ODAC and second in the nation in net punting at 40.2. Chris Vidal has punted 17 times for 46.2 yards per kick. He has put six inside the opponent's 20 and seven have been 50 yards or more. The Yellow Jackets did not punt vs. Shenandoah.
Potent Passing
The Yellow Jackets are first in the ODAC and 10th in the nation in team passing efficiency at 177.3. R-MC is completing 67.2% of its passes for 1,825 yards and 15 passing touchdowns.
Hold the Flags
The Yellow Jackets are fourth in the country in fewest penalties per game at 3.2. R-MC is fourth in the nation in fewest penalty yards per game at 29.1. The Yellow Jackets had just one penalty for 10 yards in the win over E&H, one penalty at Ferrum for 5 yards and three penalties for eight yards vs. SU.
Positive Runs
The Yellow Jackets are tops in the ODAC and seventh in the country in tackles for loss allowed at 3.22 per game.

9-Win Seasons
A win over H-SC would give R-MC its third straight nine-win campaign in a full season. It would be the first time in program history that the Yellow Jackets would have three straight nine-win seasons.
Strong Offense
R-MC recorded at least 500 yards of total offense in three of the past five games and four times this fall. Over the past nine seasons, R-MC has not had more than two such games in any single season.
Record-Tying Field Goal
Chris Vidal nailed a 49-yard field goal at Ferrum. That kick tied the program record for longest field goal. It was the third-longest field goal in ODAC history.
Potent on PATs
Chris Vidal now owns the program and ODAC records for career PATs made at 168. Josh Storm (2009-12) held the previous R-MC mark at 137. Matt Seals of E&H (2016-20) had the ODAC record at 166.
Strong on the Ground
Justin DeLeon leads the ODAC and is 16th in the nation in rushing yards at 937. He tops the conference with 104.1 rushing yards per game, 15 rushing touchdowns, 16 total touchdowns and 96 points.
Rushing for 200
Justin DeLeon rushed for a career-high 202 yards in the win over Emory & Henry. The last time a Yellow Jackets eclipsed the 200-yard mark for rushing yards was Tre Frederick, who had 238 yards on 31 carries with three touchdowns in a 44-41 double-overtime win over Bridgewater.
1,000 Rushing Yards
Justin DeLeon is 63 yards away from 1,000 rushing yards for the season. It would be the 16th time in program history that a runner exceeded 1,000 yards on the ground. The Yellow Jackets have had a 1,000-yard rusher in seven of the past eight full seasons.

High Point Total
The Yellow Jackets tallied 62 points in the win over Catholic. The last time R-MC scored as many as 62 points was October 6, 2018, when the Yellow Jackets topped Guilford 63-34.
High Total Offense
The 694 yards of total offense against Catholic was the most for the Yellow Jackets since Sept. 12, 2015, in a 49-28 win at Averett. R-MC had 340 rushing yards and 376 through the air against the Cougars.

Brothers Put Points on the Board
Freshman Kyle Ihle made the final three extra points for R-MC against Catholic and the final two at Guilford. His brother, senior Andrew, was the holder for those five kicks.
Potent Passing, Part 2
R-MC had two QBs throw for at least 200 yards in win over Catholic. Starter Presley Egbers was 11 of 17 for 230 yards and three TDs. Brecht Heuchan came off the bench to go 6 for 6 for 213 yards and two scores.

Led all players with 11 tackles in 31-13 win at Bridgewater. Had 6 solo stops. R-MC defense held Eagles to 27 yards rushing on 24 carries.
