How it Happened:
- Freshman Lora Bertram (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) had a shot on goal 17 seconds into the match and added a shot in the third minute. The Hornets would score on their first two shots, one in the 18th minute and a second two minutes later to go up 2-0. Freshman Riley Russ (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) had two shots on goal and senior Maddie Bauman (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) added another. Freshman Abbey Muir (Moseley, Va./Cosby) had a shot on goal in the 33rd minute as the period ended 2-0. R-MC had eight shots in the first half, with five on goal.
- SU added to its lead in the 50th minute, going up 3-0. Bertram would have three of R-MC's six shots on goal in the second half, but the match would end 3-0.
By The Numbers:
- R-MC finished with an 18-12 advantage in shots, including 11-8 for shots on goal. Bertram and Russ both had five shots, while Muir added four.
- SU had three corners and R-MC had two. All came in the first half.
- The Yellow Jackets had five total saves. Sophomore Abby Cook (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) had three in the first half, while sophomore Zoe Long (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) had two in the second half.
