(ASHLAND, Va.) – The regular season came to a close for the Randolph-Macon women's soccer team as it hosted Washington & Lee on Family Weekend. While the Yellow Jackets were defeated, they will still have more left to the season as they prepare for the ODAC tournament which starts on Tuesday.

How It Happened

·         Washington & Lee opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Erin Hoeh scored from about 25 yards out top center. The Generals  made it 2-0 1:28 later when Cameron Grainger connected with Emma Mansfield for another goal.

·         Hoeh scored her second of the game and capped the scoring at 3-0 in the 26th minute.

·         While shots heavily favored W&L in the first, the Yellow Jackets made adjustments and had more opportunities in the second half. Leah Conrad (Jr., Bristow, Va. / Saint John Paul The Great) and Maddie Bauman (Sr., Smithfield, Va. / Smithfield) had a pair of shots on target early in the frame back-to-back that were both saved by Grace Coombs. Bauman added another midway through the second that was also saved.

·         Abby Cook (So., Glen Allen, Va. / Glen Allen) opened the game and made four saves, while Zoe Long (So., Midlothian, Va. / Midlothian) played the second and made two more.

Inside The Numbers

·         W&L outshot RMC 29-9 overall in the game, but the Jackets limited W&L's opportunities to just eight in the second with only two on goal compared to seven for them with three on target.

·         All seven corner kicks were taken by the Generals.

Up Next

The Jackets will play Tuesday in the ODAC quarterfinals. The opponent and time have yet to be determined.
