Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Danielle LaRosa (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) hit .765 with 13 kills and no attack errors and had seven total blocks as the Randolph-Macon women's volleyball team topped Christopher Newport on Friday afternoon for the second time this season in a matchup of regionally-ranked teams on the first day of the R-MC Invitational.

How It Happened
- The Yellow Jackets tallied two of the first three points in Game 1 on kills by junior Grace Parker (Andover, N.J./Pope John XXIII) and LaRosa. The Captains scored four straight to go up 5-2 before a kill by LaRosa stopped the run. A block by senior Macguire Gubba (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and senior Sydney Koch (Raleigh, N.C./Sanderson) pulled R-MC within one at 6-5 before three more by CNU gave the visitors a 9-5 edge. A kill by LaRosa made it a two-point game at 10-8. The Captains led 13-9 before four straight by the Yellow Jackets knotted the score at 13-13. R-MC reclaimed the lead at 15-14 on a block by Koch and junior Gracyn Draney (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest). The Yellow Jackets were up 16-15 before four straight by CNU put the Captains ahead 19-16. R-MC pulled within one at 19-18 before CNU scored six of the final eight points to post a 25-20 win. LaRosa and Parker both had three kills for the Yellow Jackets in the first game.
- The teams stayed within a point of each other early in the second game before CNU took a 7-5 edge. With the Captains up 8-6, LaRosa had three kills and a block assist in a 4-0 spurt as R-MC took a 10-8 advantage. The score was knotted at 14-14 before kills by Koch and Parker highlighted a 3-0 spurt as the Yellow Jackets took a 17-14 lead. The Captains responded with three straight to level the score at 17-17. With the score tied at 18-18, a Parker kill sparked another 3-0 run for the Yellow Jackets. CNU pulled within one at 23-22 before a kill and block by Koch gave R-MC a 25-22 win in Game 2. R-MC hit .444 and had just one attack error in the second game.
- The teams again started with a point of each other in Game 3 before the Captains took a 7-5 advantage. Two Parker kills highlighted a 5-1 run as the Yellow Jackets went up 10-8. CNU would run off four straight to reclaim the lead at 12-10. R-MC trailed 15-13 before finishing on a 12-2 spurt to win 25-17. Parker had three kills in the game-ending run, along with two kills by Koch and senior Madison Warlick (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle). The Yellow Jackets hit .421 and had just two attack errors.
- CNU got two of the first three points before kills by LaRosa, Draney and Warlick capped a 5-0 run as R-MC took a 6-2 lead. The Captains would capture six of the next seven points to go ahead 8-7. The Yellow Jackets trailed 11-9 before a kill by Koch sparked a 4-0 spurt in taking a 13-11 edge. CNU would tie it at 15-15 before a block by LaRosa and a kill by Koch gave R-MC a 17-15 advantage. The Captains would tie it at 18-18 before kills by Koch and Parker put the Yellow Jackets up two at 20-18. CNU would tie it at 20-20 before two Parker kills highlighted a 5-2 game-ending run as R-MC won the game and the match.
