SALEM, Va. – Junior Leah Conrad (Bristow, Va./Saint John Paul the Great) connected on a pair of goals as the R-MC women's soccer team registered a 3-0 ODAC victory at Roanoke on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened:

• The Yellow Jackets had the first three shots of the match, by freshman Kelly Rogers (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) in the third minute, by freshman Sammie Hoefs (New Market, Md./Linganore) 20 minutes into the game and a shot on goal by freshman Riley Russ (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) in the 24th minute. The Maroons would get three shots over the next 17 minutes before Conrad scored in the 44th minute on an assist by senior Tyria Smalls (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) as R-MC took a 1-0 lead at intermission.
• R-MC had three of the first four shots in the second half, but none connected. After four straight shots by RC, Conrad added a second goal in the 79th minute to give the visitors a 2-0 advantage. Russ added a final goal in the 80th minute to make the final 3-0.

By The Numbers:

• R-MC had a slim 9-8 edge in shots. Both teams had five shots on goal. Conrad and Russ both had two shots.
• The Yellow Jackets had five total saves. Sophomore Abby Cook (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) had two in the first half, while sophomore Zoe Long (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) had three in a scoreless second half.

For the Record:

• The R-MC defense recorded its fourth shutout of the season. The Yellow Jackets have held eight of their first nine opponents to one goal or less.
• Roanoke was shut out for the first time this season.
