Box Score (WINCHESTER, Va.) – Despite a strong first half in which defenses prevailed, Randolph-Macon fell to Shenandoah in the field hockey ODAC opener Saturday afternoon. Both teams had yet to yield a goal through the first half, but the Hornets eventually scored a pair in the third to take the lead.

How It Happened
- The Yellow Jackets were on defense for the majority of the contest, but still stifled the Hornets attack for the first half. While the hosts were able to get off 14 shots, only four of them were on goal. Gatlin Snyder (Sr., Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) made the save all four times.
- Shenandoah was able to break the tie with a goal early on in the third quarter. Benefitting from a penalty corner, Elizabeth Ranberger was able to score on an assist from Mairead McKibbin exactly three minutes into the half.
- Just 3:25 later, the Hornets went up 2-0 on an Abby Barefoot score on an assist from Kelsey Jones.
- Shenandoah added three insurance goals in the fourth.
