ASHLAND, Va. - Freshman Grant Sarver (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin) earned wins at both singles and doubles as the Randolph-Macon men's tennis team defeated St. Mary's 6-3 Sunday afternoon to begin the spring portion of its schedule.

Sarver teamed with junior Baxter Carter (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) to win at No. 1 Doubles 8-4. Senior Pablo Bordas (Caracas, Venezuela/Briar Woods) joined sophomore Jacob Haines (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) to post an 8-3 victory at No. 3 Doubles as the Yellow Jackets (1-0) led 2-1 after doubles.

R-MC would win four of the six singles matches. Sarver registered a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3 Singles. Senior Alex Curnow (Culpeper, Va./Midlothian) won at No. 4 Singles 7-6, 6-2. Senior Stuart McCroskey (Newport News, Va./Menchville) was victorious at No. 5 Singles 6-2, 6-1. Sophomore Shane Berry (Midlothian, Va./James River) won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 SIngles.

Randolph-Macon begins ODAC play on Saturday, March 4, with a 3:30 p.m. home match against Lynchburg.
