St. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The R-MC volleyball team won in an epic five set match over St. Mary's on Thursday night. The Yellow Jackets fought from behind twice to win the match 3-2 and improve to 12-4.

R-MC won with a team effort, as multiple players made contributions. Junior Erin Quinn (Morrisville, Cardinal Gibbons) led the team with an impressive 55 assists, making her tally 605 for the season to lead the team.

Sophomore Mariah Clark (Stuarts Draft, Va./ Riverheads) continued her form, as she led the team in kills with 21, with a .386 kill percentage.

St. Mary's defeated R-MC 3-2 earlier in September at the W&L Invitational and the Gaels won the first set of tonight's match by a score of 25-17.

In the second set with St. Mary's leading 15-14, R-MC would win the next six points to give them control of the set and win by a score of 25-21.

St. Mary's would go on to take the lead again by winning the third set in a tight match by a score of 25-22.

After losing in five sets to St. Mary's earlier in the season, the Yellow Jackets turned the game around by winning the fourth set leading the whole game. The Yellow Jackets started the set by winning 11 of the first 14 points, then going on to win 25-20.

The fifth set saw both teams exchange points with neither team going winning more than two points in a row, but the Yellow Jackets were named the victors as they grinded out a 15-12 win with a Hall kill to end the game.

On the defensive end for R-MC two players recorded six total blocks with freshman Bailey Jones (Suffolk, Va./ Norfolk Collegiate) and sophomore Emily Fitzwater (Bealton, Va./ Liberty).

R-MC will be back on the court on October 5 when it travels to Va. Wesleyan as it looks to improve on its 5-0 start in the ODAC.
