ASHLAND, Va.- Senior Tom Lewis (Charlottesville, Va. / Western Albemarle) and junior Alex Curnow (Culpeper, Va. / Midlothian) led the Yellow Jackets to victory in their home opener against St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon.

Lewis and Curnow teamed up at No. 2 doubles to defeat Troy Spurrier and Robert Bishop 8-4 and also claimed wins in their singles matches.

After falling behind 2-1 in doubles play, the Yellow Jackets (1-1) claimed all six singles matches in straight sets to claim the 7-2 victory over the Seahawks (1-2).

At No. 6, junior Stuart McCroskey (Newport News, Va. / Menchville) defeated Kyle Van Winter 6-1, 6-3. Sophomore Baxter Carter (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's) blanked Connor McKissick 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 position. Freshman Jacob Haines (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) notched his first collegiate victory with a 6-0, 6-3 win. Senior John Adam (Vienna, Va. / James Madison) wrapped up the singles sweep with a 7-6, 6-3 victory at the No. 1 position.

In doubles play, Haines and junior Pablo Bordas (Caracas, Venezuela / Briar Woods) fell to Nick Ersoy and Kyle Van Winter 8-5. At the No. 1 doubles position, Adam and Carter fought to a tiebreak before losing 9-8 to Mark Hardesty and Connor McKissick.

Randolph-Macon returns to the Banks Tennis Center on Saturday, March 5 to take on Guilford in an ODAC showdown. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
