Box Score ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon field hockey was defeated by Shenandoah 2-0 on Friday night. SU scored two goals on either side of half time to give the Hornets the victory. R-MC go to 1-9 for the season and 0-4 in ODAC play, while SU improve to 7-5 and 3-1 in the ODAC.
Junior goalkeeper Kelsey Stanley (Bumpass, Va./ Louisa County) recorded 22 saves, increasing her tally to 114 for the season. Stanley faced a penalty shot in late in the second half. On the shot, she dove to her left and parried the ball away from the danger with a strong hand. That marked Stanley's second penalty save of the season.
SU scored in the fifth minute through Kayla Alderman after she followed up on a rebound. The Hornets doubled their lead in the 49th minute through Melissa Deitos.
Senior forward Skyler Seligman (Norfolk, Va./ Granby) was the focal point for the R-MC offense on the night.
The Yellow Jackets recorded eight shots. Freshman Lauren Petty (Gloucester, Va./ Gloucester) led the team with five shots.
Junior midfielder Kaci Payne (Callao, Va./ Northumberland) made a defensive save in the first half to keep SU from doubling its lead.
R-MC will be back in action on Wednesday, October 12th when it hosts Va. Wesleyan at 7:30.
