Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – The R-MC volleyball team continued its hot streak with a 3-0 victory over EMU on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets improve to 17-4 and 10-0 in the ODAC, while EMU fall to 9-15 and 2-7 in the ODAC.
Sophomore Mariah Clark (Stuarts Draft, Va./ Riverheads) was the standout performer of the day, as she led the team in kills with 18. Clark recorded a .486 kill percentage, she also added three digs and two blocks.
R-MC and EMU battled to take the first set. The Royals took the lead early in the game, but R-MC won five straight points to take the lead at 7-2. Late in the set, R-MC was up 24-20 before EMU fought off two set points, but R-MC won the next point claim set one.
The second set saw R-MC control the pace as it won 25-16. R-MC would then put out a dominating display in the third set. It won seven of the first eight points and held the Royals to just nine points.
Freshman Alexia Wolfe (Midlothian, Va./ James River) was second on the team in kills with nine, on just 15 attacks.
On the defensive end, sophomore Emily Fitzwater recorded five blocks, bringing her tally to 56 for the season. She also recorded three kills and three digs.
Junior Erin Quinn (Morrisville, N.C./ Cardinal Gibbons) led the team in two categories with assists (28) and digs (10).
R-MC will be back on the court when they travel to Lynchburg on Wednesday, October 19.
