ASHLAND, Va. – Freshman goalkeeper Brian Breslin (Fairfax, Va. / W.T. Woodson) recorded three saves as the Randolph-Macon men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 ODAC decision to Roanoke Wednesday afternoon.

Breslin recorded one save in the first period and two saves in the second period. Sophomore Peter Nelson (Charleston, W.Va. / George Washington) recorded a team save in the 73rd minute.  The R-MC defense, led by captain and junior Jack Maxey (Salem, Va. / Salem), held the Maroons to five shots on goal.

The Maroons (5-3, 1-0 ODAC) scored the lone goal of the game in the 55th minute.

The Yellow Jackets (4-3, 0-1 ODAC) held a 12-10 advantage in shots with six in each period.

Senior Logan McHugh (Aberdeen, Md. / West Nottingham Academy) and freshman Diego Tacaraya (Woodbridge, Va. / C.D. Hylton) led the team with three shots. McHugh registered one shot on goal. 

The offense kept the pressure on late in the game. Junior Tyler Slayton (Mechanicsville, Va. / Hanover) and freshman Andrew Gyimesi (Midlothian, Va. / James River) came off the bench to spark the offense. Gyimesi recorded one shot.  

The Yellow Jackets return to action on the road on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. for an ODAC contest against Emory & Henry.
