HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Senior Katie Rossberg (Crozet, Va. / Albemarle) and sophomore Rebecca McGilvery (Warrenton, Va. / Kettle Run) tallied 15 and 13 kills, respectively as the Randolph-Macon volleyball team defeated Eastern Mennonite 3-0 in ODAC action Friday evening.

The Yellow Jackets (10-1, 2-0 ODAC) won the first set 25-17, took the second set 25-14, and claimed the victory with a 25-19 score in the third set. 

The first set was tied 3-3 before R-MC went on a 5-2 run to hold an 8-5 advantage over the Royals (4-5, 0-1 ODAC). The Yellow Jackets expanded their lead to 19-11 with an 11-6 spurt. The Royals cut the lead back to five points with a 3-0 run before R-MC finished the set with a 6-3 spurt.

The Yellow Jackets opened the second set on a 7-3 run and continued to expand their lead with a 15-4 spurt to hold a 22-7 advantage. Sophomore Erin Quinn (Morrisville, N.C. / Cardinal Gibbons) served nine points during the run.  The Royals responded, claiming six of the next eight points before R-MC took the set 25-14.

R-MC maintained an early 2-0 lead in the third set before the score was tied 3-3. The first half of the set remained close with no team reaching a lead of more than three points. The Yellow Jackets held a 14-12 lead and won the set with an 11-7 run.

Quinn registered 22 assists and senior Riley Martin (Crozet, Va. / Western Albemarle) added 19 assists for R-MC.

Sophomore Samantha Sallade (Newports News, Va. / Peninsula Catholic) paced the Yellow Jackets with 13 digs. McGilvery chipped in 12 digs and recorded three service aces.

Sophomore Colleen Beaver (Fredericksburg, Va. / Massaponax) led the team defensively with five assisted blocks.  

The Yellow Jackets will play two matches on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Bridgewater College. R-MC will face Bridgewater at 1 p.m. for an ODAC contest before facing St. Mary's (Md.) at 3 p.m.
