ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Junior Katie Rossberg (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) led all players with 12 kills and junior Riley Martin (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) collected 13 assists as the R-MC volleyball team opened its season with a commanding 3-0 victory at N.C. Wesleyan Friday evening.

The Yellow Jackets (1-0) took the opening game 25-15 and followed with a 25-11 win in Game 2 and 25-8 in Game 3.

R-MC recorded 33 total kills and just one attack error, compared to 16 kills and 16 attack errors for the Battling Bishops (0-1). The Yellow Jackets had 31 assists and 30 digs.

Junior Courtney Lowers (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) led R-MC with seven digs and was second with nine kills. Senior Bailey Troia (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) had eight assists and freshman Erin Quinn (Morrisville, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) added seven assists for the Yellow Jackets.

Randolph-Macon remains on the road for a pair at the Berry College Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 30. The Yellow Jackets face second-ranked Emory at noon and meet host Berry at 2:30 p.m. Berry is receiving votes in the AVCA Preseason Poll.
