ASHLAND, Va. – Juniors Ryan Byrd (Toano, Va./Warhill) and Ira Usry (Columbia, S.C./Hammond) both earned a pair of victories as Randolph-Macon edged Bridgewater 5-4 in ODAC men's tennis action Wednesday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center to conclude the regular season.

The Yellow Jackets (12-6, 8-2) earned third place in the ODAC standings and will host No. 6 Guilford in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Championship.

R-MC won two doubles points and split the six singles matches. Byrd, the current ODAC Player of the Week, registered a three-set triumph at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0 in the third set. He teamed with senior Michael Baxter (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) to take No. 1 doubles 8-3.

Usry posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles and joined junior Connor Hoerr (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) to capture No. 3 doubles.

Sophomore John Adam (Vienna, Va./James Madison) made a strong comeback to win at No. 4 singles. After dropping the first set 6-4, he posted a 6-0 win in the second set and took the third 7-5.

The quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament begin this weekend. The date and time should be announced on Thursday, April 17.
