A layup by Parsons tied the score at 11-11 with 12:14 remaining until halftime. The Saints fought back and took a five-point lead, 20-15, but a jumper by Staples at 8:03, cut the lead to three points. Livermon capitalized on a turnover by Marymount and nailed a three-pointer to tie the score 20-20 with 6:00 remaining. However, the Saints scored nine straight points to bring the score to 29-20. A trey by Livermon cut the lead to five with just under two minutes left in the half, but the Saints again countered and would take a nine-point lead to halftime, 34-25.

The Saints converted on an early turnover in the second half by the Yellow Jackets to take an 11-point lead with 19:44 to go. However, the Yellow Jackets capitalized on steals by Hester and Parsons to cut the lead to seven, 40-33 and stop the Saints' rally. Parsons made two free throws to bring R-MC within two points with just less than twelve minutes to play. After stealing the ball, Berry made a trey to give the Yellow Jackets a one-point advantage, 45-44, with 11:40 remaining. Berry nailed another trey after stealing the ball to stretch R-MC's lead to seven, 51-44. The Saints would cut the lead to three with just under six minutes to play but the Yellow Jackets did not falter and a trey by Livermon with 2:17 to go stretched the lead to 10 points and sealed the victory for R-MC.
