Box Score ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Catherine
Pricone (Arlington, Va./Washington-Lee) scored in the first
half for Randolph-Macon in an 8-1 field hockey loss to No. 18 Mary
Washington Tuesday afternoon at the R-MC Field Hockey Field.
The Eagles (10-3) tallied the first three goals of the match
before Pricone scored from the right side in the 33rd minute on an
assist by senior Rachael Gardner
(Rapidan, Va./Orange County). UMW added a goal in the 35th minute
to make it 4-1 at the half.
Mary Washington added four goals in the second half for the 8-1
final.
Junior Mackenzie
Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood) led R-MC with six shots,
including three on goal. Pricone had three shots, two on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Shannon
McMurray (Stafford, Va.) recorded six saves in the first half
for the Yellow Jackets (2-8), while freshman Kelsey Stanley
(Bumpass, Va.) registered seven saves in the second stanza.
Jenna Steele finished with four goals for the Eagles.
R-MC returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 8 with a 4:30 p.m.
ODAC contest at Sweet Briar.
