Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Junior Katie Rossberg (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) led all players with 12 kills as the Randolph-Macon volleyball team swept Bridgewater Wednesday evening to win the ODAC regular-season title and claim the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament.
The Yellow Jackets (18-8, 10-1) took the opener 25-17 before recording 25-21 wins in each of the final two games.
R-MC trailed 11-9 in Game 1 before scoring five straight points to take a 14-11 advantage. The Yellow Jackets scored 10 of the final 15 points to claim a 25-17 win in the first game.
The Eagles (8-20, 4-7 ODAC) led 10-9 in the second game before fought back to take a 16-13 edge. BC reclaimed the lead at 19-18 before the Yellow Jackets secured seven of the final nine points to take Game 2.
BC jumped out to a quick 7-4 lead in Game 3 before R-MC scored three straight to tie it at 7-7. The Eagles were up 16-13 and still led 21-20 before the Yellow Jackets scored the final five points to secure the match.
Rossberg had 35 total attacks, a kill percentage of .200 and eight digs. Junior Courtney Lowers (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) added 11 kills, 38 total attacks and six digs. Freshman Morgan Seal (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) had four kills on four attacks with no errors, while junior Addie Cooper (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry Collegiate) had five kills on nine attacks without an error.
Freshman Erin Quinn (Morrisville, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) had 21 assists, while junior Riley Martin (Crozet, Va./Western Albemarle) added 10 assists.
Freshman Samantha Sallade (Newport News, Va./Peninsula Catholic) tallied 25 digs.
R-MC will play in Trinity's tournament this weekend in San Antonio, Texas. The Yellow Jackets will meet Hardin-Simmons on Friday before facing No. 21 Trinity and fourth-ranked Wittenberg on Saturday. R-MC will host an ODAC quarterfinal match on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
