Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Stanley (Bumpass, Va.) registered 18 saves as the Randolph-Macon field hockey team dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Centre on Christopher Newport's Captains Turf Field.
After the Colonels (11-4) scored the game's first goal in the sixth minute, senior Olivia Newman (Orange, Va./Orange County) answered with the equalizer in the 21st minute for the Yellow Jackets (3-10) as the match stood 1-1 at the half.
Centre reclaimed the lead 35 seconds into the second stanza before R-MC responded in the 52nd minute as freshman Victoria Cappadora (Manchester, Md.) scored with an assist by senior Carrie Jacobs (Orange, Va./Orange County) to knot the score at 2-2.
The Colonels were awarded a penalty stroke in the 75th minute, which they converted for the game-winner.
R-MC has two shots on goal in the match and both were goals.
The Yellow Jackets remain on the road, travelling to Eastern Mennonite for a 1 p.m. ODAC match on Saturday, Oct. 18.
