Box Score ASHLAND, Va.—In their first game of day 2 of the
Randolph-Macon Invitational, the Yellow Jackets refused to go down
without a fight against nationally ranked Emory University (8).
R-MC (5-1) began the match by taking the first set 25-15. What
followed was a solid performance of high level volleyball for the
next four sets. Emory (7-0) took three out of the four sets (25-16,
19-25, 25-20, 15-10).
Sophomore Katie
Rossberg (Crozet, VA) finished the match with 12 kills on 46
attacks while senior middle-hitter Tori Puryear
(Madison, VA) added 10 kills with 31 attacks. Fellow senior Hillary
Jessee (Warm Springs, VA) had 29 attacks along with 27 from
sophomore Addie Cooper
(Virginia Beach, VA).
Riley
Martin (Crozet, VA) tallied 18 assists to help her teammates
and junior Bailey Troia
(Virginia Beach, VA) added 17 assists of her own. Senior libero Marli
Dabareiner (Hardy, VA) led the match with 29 digs.
The Jackets out-blocked the Eagles 13 blocks to 11 and finished
with a .065 hitting percentage next to Emory's .200.
Immediately following the match, R-MC is slotted to play Hardin
Simmons at 3:00 PM in Crenshaw Gymnasium.
