ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Brantley Stein (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) came from behind to win at No. 5 singles as Randolph-Macon clinched a 5-3 victory over Catholic at the Banks Tennis Center.
The Cardinals (2-1) won a pair of doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead. Freshman Michael Baxter (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) was victorious at No. 3 singles, sophomore John Adam (Vienna, Va./James Madison HS) took No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-1 and junior Ira Usry won by default at No. 6 singles to give the Yellow Jackets (1-0) a 4-3 lead. Stein dropped his initial set in a tie-breaker before winning 6-1 and 6-2 to capture the match.
The Yellow Jackets will play in the ITA Men's Regional Championship Sept. 28-29 in Fredericksburg, Va.
