Box Score ASHLAND, Va.---In their 2013 season opener and the first match
of the day, the Randolph-Macon volleyball team demonstrated an
impressive three straight wins over North Carolina Wesleyan, 25-11,
25-7 and 25-13, Saturday at Crenshaw Gymnasium.
R-MC (1-0) hit .301, while keeping the Battling Bishops (0-1) to
a -0.173 hitting percentage. The Jackets also out blocked their
opponent 8 blocks to 2.
R-MC senior Courtney
Lowers (Suffolk, VA) lead the way by hitting .667 with 7 kills
against 1 error. Sophomore Katie
Rossberg (Crozet, VA) also had 7 kills while hitting .211.
Senior Tori
Puryear (Madison, VA) made a solid mark on the court as well
with 6 kills and a .267 hitting percentage.
The 36 kills of the day were made in part by 19 assists from
sophomore Bailey
Troia (VA Beach, VA). Sophomore Riley
Martin (Crozet, VA) added 10 assist to total 29
between the two. Senior libero Marli
Dabareiner (Hardy, VA) led the team in digs with 9
while sophomore Anne
Knowlton (Williamsburg, VA) had 6.
Freshman Rachel Wyatt
(VA Beach, VA) made her debut with a .250 hitting percentage
and 3 kills on 8 attacks.
