Box Score ASHLAND, VA – No. 17 Hampden-Sydney topped Randolph-Macon, 66-47, Wednesday evening in ODAC Men's Basketball action.
R-MC drops to 13-9 overall and 8-5 in the ODAC while H-SC improves to 20-2 and 12-1 in league. The win gives the Tigers its first 20 win season since 2003-04 and gives Hampden-Sydney a regular season sweep of the Yellow Jackets since 1999-2000.
Randolph-Macon was led by Andre Simon and Lamar Giggetts who both had 10 points in the loss. Simon also had a game-best nine rebounds. The Jackets were 19-of-53 (35.3%) from the floor.
H-SC got 18 points from Harrison George, 14 from Greg Lewis and 12 off the bench from Kodie Critzer. George grabbed a team-high eight boards, helping H-SC to a 41-29 edge on the glass.
The Tigers held R-MC to 25% shooting in the first-half and used a 15-0 run midway through the period to take a 32-17 lead into halftime.
R-MC came out hot at the outset of the second stanza, using a 10-2 run to cut the H-SC lead to 34-27 with 16 minutes to play.
The Yellow Jackets could not get any closer as Hampden-Sydney sealed the game with a 27-8 run over the course of the next 10 minutes.
Randolph-Macon is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Eastern Mennonite at 2:00 p.m.
