Box Score FROSTBURG, Md. – Senior Andre Simon (Newport News, Va./Menchville, Va.) scored 21 and junior Joe Hassell (Portsmouth, Va./Indian River) added a season-high 20 as Randolph-Macon snapped a three-game losing streak with a 99-75 win at Frostburg State Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Arena.
Junior Akeem Holmes (King William, Va./King William) came off the bench to tally 13 for R-MC, going 4-6 from the floor and 5-5 from the free throw line.
The Yellow Jackets (2-3) led 19-14 nine minutes into the contest before a 12-0 run pushed the lead to 31-14 with 6:50 left in the first period. R-MC scored the final five points of the half to take a 52-29 advantage at the break, its largest lead of the half. The Yellow Jackets missed their first five free throws before hitting 11 of their final 12 tries of the period. R-MC had its highest first-half total at 52 and held its opponent to its lowest total at 29. Hassell had 13 points in the half, while Simon added 11 points and six rebounds.
R-MC led by as many 30 in the second half at 89-59 with 6:14 remaining before finishing with the 99-75 victory.
All 15 Yellow Jackets in uniform played, with 13 different players scoring against the Bobcats (0-5).
R-MC returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 4, hosting Washington and Lee at 7 p.m. in an ODAC contest at Crenshaw Gymnasium.
