Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Late first half goal by Erin Hauser lifts Randolph-Macon to a 1-0 victory over Guilford Saturday afternoon. The women improved to 5-4, 4-1 in conference play, while the Quakers fell to 3-9, 2-4 in the ODAC.
The win avenged a 2-0 loss last year against Guilford and snapped a current two game losing streak.
The contest looked to be a defensive battle throughout the first half until Hauser scored the only goal of the match with seven second left in the half.
Hauser's goal marked her 10th of the season, which is good for first on the team and second in the ODAC.
Hauser and fellow senior, Meredith Eckles, led the Yellow Jacket offense with three shots on the afternoon. Jen LaBarge chipped in with two shots, one on goal.
Briana Housekeeper got the win in goal for Randolph-Macon, recording one save on the day.
Despite the loss, the Quakers outshot the Yellow Jackets, 12-9 on the afternoon, including an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.
R-MC looks to continue to climb the ODAC rankings Wednesday, October 3rd when they host Shenandoah. Kick-off is set for a 4:15 p.m. start.
