Box Score 2 BRISTOL, TN--- Randolph-Macon College Softball swept Emory & Henry in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at King College. The Jackets won game one, 6-0 behind another shutout from Heather Lewis and took game two, 9-5 behind four RBI by Sharese Jarvis.
A five run second inning led R-MC to the win in game one. Laura Bauer sparked the rally with a homerun to left centerfield. After the Jackets scored on an error, Lewis ripped a two run triple down the left field line to make it 4-0. Kelly Beard followed with an RBI single up the middle to give R-MC a 5-0 lead.
Randolph-Macon (18-8 / 4-2 ODAC) added a run in the third off an Amber McCauley single to left field.
Lewis led the Jackets at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. McCauley added two hits in the win.
Lewis improved to 10-3 on the year, throwing her 10th complete game allowing just four hits in the victory. Brandy Bryant fell to 1-3 on the season, surrendering six runs, two earned.
R-MC jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in game two, scoring one run in the second and three in the third. Lauryn Nanny started the scoring in the second with an RBI single to through the right side that scored Jasmine Cousins. The Yellow Jackets posted three runs in the third, capped by a sacrifice fly by Carolyn Gilbertson to make it 4-0.
The Jackets posted five runs in the sixth getting three of them off a three run double by Jarvis. The Wasps (8-18 / 1-9 ODAC) scored four runs in the bottom of the frame to give the final score.
Jarivs paced R-MC at the dish, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Bauer and Lacey Berry each chipped in two hits and an RBI in the win.
Kelly Beard earned the victory for the Yellow Jackets, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing five runs. Heather Lewis closed the game, throwing the final 1.1 innings without surrendering a run.
R-MC is back in action April 11th when it travels to Sweet Briar. The doubleheader is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start.
