Box Score 2 SALEM, Va--- Randolph-Macon College Softball earned two more victories Sunday afternoon at the Moyer Sports Complex. The Yellow Jackets defeated Huntingdon, 5-1 in game one and topped Hunter, 2-0 in game two.
R-MC (10-4) finished the weekend with a record of 3-1.
In the opener, a two run homer by Lauryn Nanny started the scoring in the fourth. Laura Bauer added a two run single to extend the Yellow Jackets' lead. An RBI single by Sharese Jarvis capped the scoring for R-MC.
Kelly Beard earned the victory for Randolph-Macon, pitching a complete game, allowing just six hits, one run and one walk, while striking out one. She also helped her own cause at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 on the day. Jarvis also went 4-for-4 in the contest.
Game two proved to be a pitcher's duel, as both R-MC and Hunter (1-2) remained scoreless throughout five innings. In the top of the sixth, Beard led off the inning with a double. Jarvis then followed with a two-run homerun to give the final score.
Kristen Dize picked up the win for R-MC, tossing a complete-game shutout, surrendering just four hits over seven innings. Angel Lacovetti (1-1) suffered the loss after going the distance in seven innings of work, striking out seven and surrendering just two runs on six scattered hits.
Randolph-Macon returns to action Saturday, March 17th when the women travel to Emory & Henry. Game-time is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
