R-MC Men's Hoops Knocked Out of ODAC Tournament with 58-51 Loss to Randolph

SALEM, VA  -- Randolph held Randolph-Macon to just six second-half field goals as the WildCats upset the second-seeded Yellow Jackets in the semifinals of the 2012 ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament.

R-MC is now 21-6 on the season.  The Jackets, who are currently ranked No. 4 in the NCAA South Regional Rankings, will learn Monday if it will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Randolph led 19-10 after a Derrick Woods-Morrow layup with 10 minutes to go in the opening half.

Randolph-Macon rallied outscoring Randolph 21-4 to close out the half, taking a 31-23 lead after Calvin Croskey drained a three-pointer as time expired.  

The WildCats formed a rally of their own, scoring 11 of the first 13 points of the second stanza to pull even at 34-34 after a pair of free-throws by Woods-Moorow.

With the score tied at 35, Randolph reeled off a 10-3 run to take a seven point advantage with just over eight minutes to go.

R-MC then responded with a 13-3 run of its own, taking back the lead when Lamar Giggetts made a bucket with 2:55 to play, putting the Jackets in front 49-48.

On Randolph's ensuing possession, Julius Thomas made a three-pointer to put Randolph in front 51-49 before two Giggetts free-throws tied the game at 51 with 2:09 to play.

Colton Hunt would break the tie and after a defensive stop, Zach Desgain nailed a three-pointer with under a minute left to give Randolph a 56-51 lead.

Randolph-Macon got a team-high nine points from Croskey and Andre Simon.

Woods-Morrow had 20 points and 16 rebounds to help Randolph to a 44-33 edge on the glass.  Hunt finished with 14 points of his own.
