Box Score ASHLAND, VA – It was a night of milestones on Wednesday evening in Randolph-Macon's 72-60 Men's Basketball victory over Ferrum .
Prior to the game, R-MC honored its pair of seniors Adam Desgain and Calvin Croskey. With the win tonight, the duo ties the school record for victories by a class with 91. The mark was set by the class of 2010 a season ago.
The win is also the 500th victory in program history in Crenshaw Gym as the Yellow Jackets finish the year 15-0 at home and extended their home winning streak to 24.
R-MC, which is ranked No. 3 in the South Region and No. 23 in the Nation, improves their record to 20-4 on the season. It marks a school record fifth consecutive year and sixth time in seven years that Randolph-Macon has won 20 or more games.
Randolph-Macon had four players in double-figures led by Andre Simon who had 15 off the bench on 5-of-7 shooting. Fellow reserve Jamie Robinson had 11 to help R-MC to a 29-10 edge in the bench battle. Marcus Badger tied a career-high with 12 points, while Lamar Giggetts and Croskey each had 10 in the win.
The Jackets came out slow and found themselves down by 12 at 28-16 with under seven minutes to play in the first-half.
Randolph-Macon would close the first stanza on a 16-5 run, taking a 33-32 advantage to the locker room after a Simon bucket in the closing seconds.
The second-half was close throughout with six lead changes and seven ties. With the score deadlocked at 58 and under five minutes to go, a Dylan Cole jumper put R-MC on top for good at 60-58 and sparked what proved to be a 12-2 run to end the game for the Yellow Jackets.
Ferrum was led by Marcus Mayo's game-high 25 points. He also chipped in eight rebounds, five assists and a steal. Nick English had 12 points and Lamont King had 12 rebounds to help the Panthers to a 40-33 edge on the glass.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday when it closes out the regular season at archrival Hampden-Sydney. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Farmville.
