Box Score GREENSBORO, NC – Guilford got double-figure scoring from four players as the home standing Quakers knocked off Randolph-Macon 65-55 in ODAC Men's Basketball action Saturday.
Lamar Giggetts paced the Yellow Jackets with 12 points and Chris Hamilton added 11 off the bench thanks to a game-high three three-point goals. Andre Simon finished with nine points and six rebounds for the Jackets.
Guilford (4-1 / 2-0 ODAC) jumped out to an early lead, taking a 17-9 edge when Kevin Gibbs tipped in a missed layup by Jake Hopkins.
R-MC (2-4 / 1-1 ODAC) battled back and was able to tie the game 27-27 on a Simon jumper with just over a minute to play in the first-half. The Jackets would get a stop on the other end before a Giggetts basket sent R-MC to the intermission in front 29-27.
The teams would exchange the lead at the outset of the second stanza before a Giggetts' basket with 12:07 left in the game gave Randolph-Macon its final lead, 42-41. The Quakers answered with a 17-7 run over the next nine minutes that decided the contest.
Zeb Richardson paced four Quakers in double-figure scoring with a career- and game-high 15 points. Guilford outscored the Yellow Jackets, 42-16, in the paint and enjoyed a 41-30 rebounding edge. Hopkins scored 12 points and had six rebounds for Guilford. Fellow forward Will Freeman chipped in 10 points off the bench and guard Josh Pittman collected a double-double with 10 points and career-high 10 assists.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action next Saturday at Eastern Mennonite. The ODAC game is set for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
