Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Meredith Eckles' double propels R-MC to a 3-2 victory over the Hornets of Shenandoah University as they improve to 6-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
Defender Jen LaBarge connected with Meghan O'Neal just five minutes into the match to give R-MC the early 1-0 lead.
Eckles scored her first goal as her long shot met the back of the net fifteen minutes later to boost the Yellow Jackets ahead by two going into half time.
In the second stanza, SU was the first to strike off of a Catherine Major goal to bring the Hornets within one. R-MC increased its lead back to two when Eckles scored her second goal of the match, assisted by Erin Hauser, in the 57th minute.
Courtney Boschert scored the last goal of the match for the Hornets with just three minutes left on the clock.
The Yellow Jackets were outshot 20-12 but put six of those shots on goal.
Briana Housekeeper took the win in goal for the Yellow Jackets, turning away seven of the ten Hornets' shots on goal.
R-MC is back in action at home on October 6th (Family Weekend) at 1:00 p.m. against ODAC opponent Sweet Briar.
