Big Second-Half Sends Bridgwater Past R-MC Women's Soccer 3-0

Box Score

ASHLAND, VA – Bridgewater College scored three goals in the second-half as Eagles topped home standing Randolph-Macon, 3-0, in ODAC Women's Soccer Action Wednesday afternoon.

After a scoreless first-half of play, BC needed just over a minute into the second stanza to take the lead when Brittany Harris used her sliding left foot to place the ball in the top right corner of the net, past an outstretched Briana Housekeeper

R-MC's (8-6-0 / 7-3-0 ODAC) best chance to score came just minutes later, but Megan O'Neal's left-footed try went just wide and BC held on to the lead.

Bridgewater (10-5-1 / 7-3-1) doubled its advantage in the 71st minute when Ashley Crossman gathered a deflection in the box and scored to make it 2-0.

The Eagles put the game away just under five minutes later when Abby Dehoff took a free kick that Housekeeper made a fantastic save on, but the ball deflected to a waiting Julie Baca who tapped it in to make it 3-0.

BC outshot R-MC 20-5 on the afternoon and held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

Housekeeper made nine stops on the day, while Krista Kelly turned away all three shots on goal to earn the shutout.

R-MC will be back in action on Saturday when the Yellow Jackets play host to the Washington and Lee at 3:00 p.m.
