Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nicole Woodworth made 28 saves in the cage and Rachael Gardner scored her first collegiate goal, but it proved not to be enough as No. 18 Catholic scored a 3-1 victory over Randolph-Macon Field Hockey on Sunday evening in the Nation's Capital.
CUA (2-0) scored all three goals in the final 15 minutes of the first half, the last of which coming as time expired. The Cardinals out shot R-MC 40-4 and got goals from a trio of freshmen.
R-MC (1-2) got on the board with 12 minutes to play when Lauren Seal set up Gardner for her first goal as a member of the Yellow Jackets program.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Frostburg State for a 5:00 p.m. match.
