Box Score BRIDGEWATER, VA – Hillary Jessee, Mallory Carter, Tori Puryear and Jessica Sears all recorded double-digit kill totals as Randolph-Macon rallied for a 3-1 road victory over ODAC rival Bridgewater on Wednesday night.
After dropping the first game of the match 26-28, the Yellow Jackets stormed back to win the next three by the scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-16 to improve to 14-3 overall and 5-0 in the ODAC. The loss drops Bridgewater to 8-8 and 1-3 in the league.
In game two, R-MC trailed 17-16 before back-to-back kills by Carter put the Jackets out in front 18-17 and sparked what proved to be a 9-0 run to end the game, with Puryear closing it out with a kill set up by Marli Dabareiner.
With the score 14-12 in favor of R-MC in the third game, R-MC won 11 of the final 15 points, behind three kills from Carter and a pair from Jessee.
Randolph-Macon closed out the match in the fourth game, jumping out to an 8-0 lead to start and would take a 14-3 advantage on a kill by Carter. Bridgewater would rally cutting, R-MC's lead to 17-12, but that would be as close as they would get as R-MC won eight of the final 12 points, closing out the match on a service ace by Carter.
Jessee led the way with 14 kills for R-MC, while Carter had 13, Puryear had 12 and Jessica Sears recorded 11 on the night. Bailey Troia had 47 assists and Dabareiner had four service aces.
Defensively, Dabareiner had 23 digs, while Carter and Sears each had 15 stops in the win. Puryear and Jessee had three block assists on the defensive side of the net as well.
Randolph-Macon will be off until Tuesday when it hosts No. 6 Christopher Newport at 6:30 p.m.
