Randolph-Macon Falls to #6 Lynchburg, 2-0

Randolph-Macon falls to #6 Lynchburg, 2-0 at Shellenberger Field Saturday afternoon.  The Yellow Jackets dropped to 2-6, 0-1 in conference play, while the Hornets improved to 6-1, 1-0 in the ODAC.

Lynchburg is the fifth ranked opponent that Randolph-Macon has matched up with this season.  The others included #13 Christopher Newport, #17 Juniata, #18 Catholic and #12 Mary Washington.

After a scoreless first half, the Hornets found the scoreboard twice within a minute.  Ten minutes into the second half, Lindsay Leonard found Danielle Kreider to take a one goal lead.   Thirty seconds later, Shelly Milks found the back of the cage to give the final score. 

Lynchburg was led by Leonard, who totaled 24 shots on the afternoon, 14 on goal.  Deanna Smith finished with five shots on goal.

Meredith Young paced the Yellow Jackets, recording two shots that tested the goalie.

Nicole Woodworth continued her excellent play, taking the loss in goal, but finishing with 26 saves.  She continues to the lead the conference in saves with 108, more than 40 saves ahead of Cristina Scichilone of Roanoke who sits second in the league.

The Hornets outshot the Yellow Jackets, 51-3, including 30-2 edge in shots on goal.  The Yellow Jackets hung tough though, allowing just two scores on the afternoon.

Randolph-Macon returns to action tomorrow, September 25th as they host Wilson College.  Play is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
