Box Score ASHLAND, VA--- Randolph-Macon cruised past Hollins, 3-0 Saturday afternoon. The women improved to 3-2-1, 1-0 in ODAC-play, while Hollins fell to 1-5, 0-1 on the season.
The win wrapped up a perfect day for Randolph-Macon athletics as volleyball, men's soccer, and football all picked up home victories on the afternoon. The women recorded their first home win of season. R-MC has never lost to Hollins in women's soccer.
Erin Hauser got the Yellow Jackets on the board just eight minutes into play off a double assist from Ashley Stover and Amanda Nelms. Hauser is now tied for the conference-lead in goals (6), points (16), and assists (4).
Amanda Nelms then found her twin sister Angela Nelms four minutes later to take a two goal lead. The assist was Amanda Nelms second of the game and third of the season. The score was Angela Nelms first of the year.
With just under six minutes to play, Angela Mastellone found the back of the net off a rebound to give the final score.
Randolph-Macon controlled play throughout, outshooting Hollins, 30-5, including a 13-2 edge in shots on goal. The women also held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
Stover paced R-MC with with four shots on goal. Meredith Eckles chipped in with four shots, three on goal in the contest.
Cecilia Quinonez made her first start of the year, earning her first victory. She was replaced by Briana Housekeeper for the second stanza. Housekeeper finished with two saves on the afternoon. Kristen Norkus took the loss in goal for Hollins, finishing with 11 saves in the contest.
Randolph-Macon returns to action Tuesday, September 20th as they host Eastern Mennonite. Kick-off set for a 4:15 p.m. start.
