ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon Volleyball team rounded out its weekend at the ASCIS Invitational hosted by Juniata College by splitting a pair of matches.  R-MC knocked off Franklin & Marshall after suffering a five game set back to Transylvania.

In the 3-1 win over the Diplomats, the R-MC offense was paced by Mallory Carter who had 11 kills to lead the squad.  Tori Puryear and Jessica Sears each chipped in with nine kills apiece.    Hillary Jessee also connected on 8-of-19 attempts without and error for R-MC.  Baily Troia and Maggie Holbet combined for 38 assists with 21 and 17, respectively.

The defense got 24 digs from Marli Dabareiner, while Sears had 13 and Carter made nine stops in the win.  Casey West had two solo blocks and five assist blocks and Jessee had one solo stop and six assist blocks.

In a 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-17 loss to Transylvania, Jessee had a career-high 17 kills, Sears had 15 kills and 15 digs and Carter  had 13 kills and 15 stops of her own.     Tori Puryear had nine kills and Troia dished out 30 assists.

Dabareiner had 22 digs in the loss, while Puryear had one solo block and seven assist block for the Yellow Jackets who are now 5-2 on the year.

R-MC gets back to action on Tuesday when it travels to nearby Mary Washington for a 7:00 p.m. match.
