Box Score ASHLAND,VA – No. 11 Randolph-Macon held Washington and Lee to just three field goals over the final 16 minutes of the game to open up a tight game and secure a 72-41 ODAC win over the Generals Saturday afternoon in Ashland.
R-MC is now 19-3 overall and 11-2 in the ODAC, while W&L drops to 12-8 overall and 5-8 in the league.
The Jackets held a slim 31-26 lead to at halftime before the Generals came out of the locker room and made their first three shots of the second stanza to cut the R-MC lead to 33-32 with just under 18 minutes to go in the game.
After a Jon Guest jumper drew Washington and Lee within three at 37-34 with 16:04 to go in the contest, R-MC went on a 27-2 run over the next 11 minutes, taking a 64-36 advantage when Billy Campion made a bucket with 5:19 to go.
R-MC ,which held W&L to 15 points in the second half on 6-of-25 (24.0%) of shooting , saw its lead reach as many as 31 down the stretch as it secured its 15th win in its last 16 games.
Danny Jones led the way for R-MC with a game-high 21 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting from the field. Jones led the R-MC reserves to a 41-16 advantage over the W&L bench.
Jones' frontcourt mate Brandon Braxton made 6-of-9 shots from the floor for 12 points. The duo helped the Jackets to outscore the Generals 40-16 in the paint, while Calvin Croskey also scored double digits with 10 points in the win.
Jones and Kevin Voelkel each had six rebounds for R-MC, which held a 36-29 edge on the glass. The Yellow Jackets made 50% of their shots on the day, converting 29-of-57 shots from the floor.
Drew Kimberly, J.D. Ey and Jeremy Adkins all had seven points for Washington and Lee which finished the days shooting 33.3% on 16-of-48 shooting.
